Alice's Butter Cream Icing

My grandmothers recipe for the most sinfully delicious icing to go on her Red Velvet Cake.
Takes 30 minutes, start to finish. Will Ice one Two Layer Cake
 

Ingredients

1 cup- Whole Milk

1/3 cup- All Purpose Flour

1 cup- White Sugar

1/2 cup- Crisco or other shortening

1 stick- Margarine

1 tsp- Vanilla

Dash of Salt

Directions

1. Blend milk and flour in a heavy saucepan over medium heat till thick.

2. Add salt and let cool.

3. In another bowl, mix Crisco, margarine, and sugar using an electrical mixer on high speed until fluffy.

4. Combine flour and shortening mixtures, adding vanilla slowly.

5. Beat until fluffy.

6. Use to frost completely cooled Red Velvet Cake.
