Spaghetti with Meat Sauce

Let this one cook low and slow all afternoon.
Takes about 3 hours, start to finish. Serves 8.
 

Ingredients

1/2 pound ground veal
½ pound ground pork
½ pound ground beef
½ pound sausage
¼ pound butter
1 ¼ pounds onions, chopped
¼ clove garlic, cut fine
1 green pepper, chopped
2 sprigs parsley, chopped
½ pound mushrooms, sliced
2 ½ cups tomato puree
1 cup catchup
½ teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
8 ounces spaghetti
Grated Parmesan cheese

Directions


Brown meats in butter in iron skillet. 

Add onions, garlic, pepper, and parsley. 

Cook until slightly brown. 

Add mushrooms, tomato puree, catchup, and ½ cup water, Worcestershire, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. 

Simmer, covered, 1 ½ hours. 

Boil spaghetti in salted water until soft, keeping it whole. 

Pour sauce over spaghetti and serve on platter. 

Sprinkle top generously with grated Parmesan cheese.
