BAKED ZITI
Ingredients
1/2 pound of your favorite sausage removed from the casing
1 pound ground beef or veal
1 pound rigatoni or ziti
2 jars of your favorite bottled tomato sauce
2 cups fresh mozzarella cut in 1 inch cubes
4 tablespoons grated parmesean cheese
1 cup shelled peas fresh or frozen
1/2 cup red wine
2 tablespoon olive oil
salt to season
Directions
Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees
In a large pot over high heat add the oil, when you see it start to smoke add the sausage and beef or veal. Let brown, should take about 6 - 8, minutes then season with salt
Once the meat is browned thoughuly add the red wine and let reduce for 6 minutes
Then add the sauce bring to and bring to a simmer
Turn the heat off under the pot, stir in the rigatoni and peas followed by the mozzarella
Pour everything into a large baking dish cover the top with the parmesean cheese and bake uncovered for 35 minutes
Remove from the oven and serve
