Turkey in a Bag
This is my Grandma Bernice's Thanksgiving turkey recipe.
Impossible to mess this up. EASY and BEAUTIFUL!!!
Ingredients
1 large whole turkey
1 large yellow onion
Lawry's seasoning salt
lemon pepper
canola oil
Large paper bag from grocery store
Directions
Wash/Dry turkey and make sure you clean out the center and take out the neck and any stuff inside both ends (yuck). Place the turkey in a clean kitchen sink and pour oil all over it and rub it in. Pour Lawry's and lemon pepper all over turkey. Place onion in center and be sure to throw some seasoning in there also.
Open up bag and place horizontally on the bottom part of a broiler pan or large roasting pan. Pick up the turkey ( VERY SLIPPERY) and slide it toward the back of the pan so it is fully in the bag. Staple the bag closed very tightly and place on bottom rack of oven at 350 for about 3 1/2 hours or 20 minutes per pound.
When checking to see if it's done, pierce with fork through the breast and if it comes out clear it should be done. If not - try to close bag as tightly as possible to continue cooking. Let it sit in bag on cooktop to cool before carving.
For gravy- pour all liquid in a gravy separator and pour over turkey when sliced.

Patience is a virtue...
