more >The Mission of Common Threads is to educate children on the importance of nutrition and physical well-being, and to foster an appreciation of cultural diversity through cooking. Common Threads offers hands-on after-school cooking classes for 8-12 years olds at 11 sites in Chicago and two sites in Los Angeles. Children learn how to cook healthy ethnic cuisine; they plant, harvest and prepare fresh veggies from our garden; and they practice traditional forms of movement like yoga, capoeira, tai chi and African dance.
