Boy Meets Kale: EATING IN A FINANCIAL MELTDOWN
Gotta eat healthy. I'm shifting from burgers and steaks and ribs back to greens and whole grains. Or at least I'm making sure that greens and whole grains are included every single day. Must have some greens. Boy meets kale. Let's frickin' go.
Meanwhile the stock market is tanking. I have two paying jobs presently and who knows what might happen with the "credit crisis" -- either or both of my employers may go out of business. I pray not. That's about all I can do. This is one of those weird "disasters" where you know it's going to pass eventually, but that won't help if you're one of the dead.
Is it absurd to focus on eating greens and whole grains in this financial "meltdown" scenario? I think not. As Gurumukh, genius kundalini yoga teacher, pointed out a few months ago, before the financial crisis was so evident: "we're going to be on a crazy ride for the next few years and things are going to be "bad" -- but if you have the bigger perspective, and you see that we are going through a critical transformation in global consciousness, and you participate in that transformation in a positive way, things won't feel so "bad" at all."
And, as Gurumukh imparts this wisdom, we are lying on the floor, holding our legs up in the air for 11 minutes straight. "Keep up!" she shouts.
