Boy Meets Kale: MORE FOOD FROM OBAMA: LAST NIGHT'S DEBATE
Feed me! I didn't even realize I was starving! Apart from any political affiliations I may or may not have (and I have none), watching Barack Obama has been nourishing. I've been alive 42 years and I have never before experienced a candidate for President being authentic, being his real self. Authenticity is deeply nourishing. Realness, baby.
Michael's Pollan's brilliant book "In Defense of Food" in all about realness. The fundamental distinction he wants us to start SEEING everywhere is 'real food versus fake food'. Real food versus something created in a lab to resemble real food, nutrients and all.
Our politicians are also created in a lab, and they are stuffed with things to say that resemble the real things we have lost: truth, intention, commitment, compassion, vision, feeling.
It is refreshing to see some real realness. And this is the point I keep trying to make: it is feeding a part of us that has no clue how profoundly under-nourished it is.
That's no small potatoes.
