Boy Meets Kale: ALL RIGHT, M CAFE DE CHAYA!
The boys here at the office all went to M Cafe de Chaya for lunch today. These are guy guys, editors and camera people and techies, who like burgers and Taco Bell and fries as much as the next guy, for whom chicken is a staple, and they probably eat brown rice three times a year. In other words, not exactly macrobiotics. They all LOVED M Cafe. I'm telling you, this place rules, this is the best food in Los Angeles right now. There, I said it, I'm sorry, I said it.
Adam, one of the guys, and I shot video at M Cafe last week. We got the chef cooking some of the signature M Cafe dishes, including their amazing kale in spicy peanut sauce, which I love so much, and which is the inspiration for the title of this blog. Soon the videos and recipes from M Cafe will be up on this website, Eat Drink or Die.
We found the chef -- as well as everyone at M Cafe -- to be professional and amazing with us. Everything was clean and organized and quite frankly beautiful. We watched in awe as the chef made the patties for the Big Macro (their macrobiotic riff on a big mac). I wanted to eat it, all those veggies and brown rice and oatmeal -- and I've had this burger and it's awesome. I'm telling you, I love this place. The chef really broke down the recipes and shared how things were done.
So, anyway, today as the boys were leaving for lunch I heard Adam say, "I want some of that kale".

Hey I eat brown rice mroe than 3 times a year! And yes, I hate saying it, but you were right… there I said it. Are you happy now?
I guess the ultimate macrobiotic logic is eat everything. That’s truly macro. :)
Oooooo… I haven’t tried their breakfasts, yet. Their salmon is also wild! I’ll have to get it in a bento box. Just wish they were a tad closer…. I love that you are not the full on vegetarian or macrobiotic guy but still totally into the healthy stuff ; )
Me too love the wasabi potatoes, oddly I haven’t tried the M Chopped yet, and I like the carrot cake too. My favorite thing to eat there is the bento box, I like it with the grilled salmon. And the breakfast enchilada is to die.
I love their M Chopped salad! Their wasabi potatoes have a nice kick! And I happily can eat the deserts, here. Loved the carrot cake.
